Current and Future NPEDC Initiatives

  1. Future Business Development:  NPEDC will be actively working with civic and business leaders within the City of North Pole, and throughout the greater Fairbanks North Star Borough to bring further business development into North Pole and the surrounding community.
  2. 2010 Census:  Stand and be counted! We will be working with the Census Bureau to help get the word out to all. Especially those in the rural and hard to reach areas. This becomes very difficult when nearly 25% of our households will not receive the Census Survey at their PO Boxes due to federal regulations. We understand how important this count will be as accurate data must be available for proper planning, legislative re-districting , development in the North Pole area, and distribution of state and federal funding based on population.
  3. Highway Signage:  For our residents, tourists and weary travelers, properly placed highway signage is a great benefit to locating gas, food, lodging or camping that is available nearby. We will be coordinating with the appropriate state and local authorities to encourage that this is done properly.
  4. North Pole City Theme:  With a name like North Pole, Alaska, shouldn’t it be easy to attract interest? A consistent and positive presence is needed to seize opportunities as they develop.
  5. North Pole Christmas in Ice:  This month long, annual, holiday event benefits the entire community and local businesses.
  6. Infrastructure Improvements:  Encourage the State and local governments to fund needed road improvements, sewer and water utility upgrades, sidewalks, and lighting projects.
  7. Other Initiatives: As an active member of NPEDC, you help determine the priorities of our organization and other possible initiatives we will take part in.
